Tool Theft/Burglary
February 24, 2016

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is looking for information to identify who stole tools from a building in the Town of Mosinee.

 

Between March 24, 2016 and March 29, 2016, some entered a building in the 600 block of County Road B in the Town of Mosinee and stole multiple sets of tools.  Stolen were a set of standard and metric combination wrenches, a set of brake wrenches, along with 3/8 and 1/2 inch ratchets and breaker bars.   All of the stolen tools were Snap-On brand.  The victim sustained a loss of around $1500.00.

Gunshot Damage to a House
February 19, 2016

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person who caused damage to a house by shooting a gun in the Town of Norrie.

 

On January 21, 2016, a Town of Norrie resident who lives near the intersection of County Road DD and Pine Road told deputies she and her husband heard what sounded like an explosion about 4:00 am.  The woman and her husband didn’t find any damage to their house immediately but a few days later they found a bullet hole in their roof.

 

Other reports taken by the Sheriff’s Department relating to gunshot damage include business signs and mailboxes being shot.

 

While the damage from these incidents may seem minor the results could be catastrophic as the bullets can and are penetrating occupied structures.

Burglary to a Business in Rib Mountain

Damage to Rothschild Elementary

STATUS: SOLVED

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to identify two males that caused damage to a school in the Village of Rothschild.

 

On Thursday, 01/14/16, at approximately 2:18am, vandals caused damage to a weather station that was located on the roof of the Rothschild Elementary School. Two unidentified males were captured on video surveillance at the school. A light colored extended cab pick-up truck with a darker colored topper, possibly involved in the incident, was also seen on the video.

Missing Registered Sex Offender
January 31, 2016

STATUS: CAPTURED

 

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify to find a registered sex offender who cut off his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and can’t be located.

 

James Begay was released from prison in August of 2015after serving a five year prison sentence for Sexual Assault.  Begay was under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections which included electronic monitoring.  On January 25th, 2015, Begay cut off his ankle bracelet.  Begay is 27 years old, is 5’04” tall and weighs about 170 pounds.  He has a tattoo that says “Wolf” across his left fingers and “Clan across his right fingers.  There is also a tattoo of a pitch fork on his left hand and the word “James on his right upper arm.

Missing Juvenile Female

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find a 14 year old female that has been missing from the Village of Weston since October 11th 2015.

 

It has been three months since anyone has seen Mackenzie Marken. On Sunday, October 11, 14 year old Mackenzie Marken left her residence in Weston about 7am prior to her family waking up. Mackenzie has not been heard from since. She has not shown up at school and her friends have not heard from her. Mackenzie is described as have long brown straight hair and brown eyes. She is about 5’7 and 150 lbs. She wears purple glasses and may be wearing black combat boots.

 

Mackenzie attends Mosinee High School and is in 9th grade. There were reported sightings of Mackenzie on Friday 10/16/15 near River Park in Mosinee and also near Mosinee High School but she still has not been located.

Thieves Posing as Utility Workers
January 17, 2016

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is informing you of potential thieves in the area.

 

In the beginning of this month, a man went to an elderly woman’s house in the eastern part of the state saying he worked for the Water Department and he wanted to check her basement for broken water pipes.  At the time it was extremely cold outside.  While the man and woman in the basement, it’s believed another man entered the house and stole $300-400 from inside the house.  In a similar incident, a victim lost over $100,000.

 

Through the investigation by the police departments, a suspect vehicle may be a white Dodge Ram Truck with Illinois Temporary plates.  The vehicle had a single cab and a black or gray stripe near the bottom of the door.  Over the last several years, but especially during the bitter cold winter a couple of years ago, these agencies had  several cases of elderly victims, home alone, being targeted typically by two males (often described as Hispanic), often posing as utility workers, particularly the Water Department.

 

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking the public to check the identification cards of people saying they are utility workers who come to your residence, particularly if you didn’t ask for a service call.  If the workers appear to be suspicious, contact law enforcement and have an officer speak to them.

Damage to Business Sign

Burglary to Building, Theft of Money

Theft of Flags
December 18, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who stole six flags from the Veterans Memorial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in the Village of Kronenwetter.

 

On October 9th, 2015, a caretaker at the cemetery discovered the United States flag along with the flags of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and a Prisoner of War flag were stolen.  It is believed the flags were stolen after September 27th, 2015. 

 

All of the stolen flags were purchased from CVS Flags and would have a marking on them from this company.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING SAFETY TIPS

Holiday Shopping Safety Tips:

 

·         Do not leave purchased items visible in your vehicle. Place them in the trunk or cover them with a blanket or other item. Be sure your doors are locked.

·         Avoid overloading yourself with packages. Instead, make frequent trips to your vehicle to lighten your load.

·         Be aware of your surroundings. Walk confidently and briskly. If you see any suspicious activity, notify the police, security, or store employees.

·         Do not leave your purse or wallet unattended for any amount of time.

·         Be aware of strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year people may try to distract you with the intention of taking your money or belongings.

·         Be extra cautious when using ATM’s. Use machines located in highly populated areas and be aware of your surroundings.

·         When possible, avoid shopping alone.

·         When shopping during evening hours, park in a well-lit and heavily traveled area.

Wanted Felon

Coleman is a black-male who was born in 1990.  He is 5’07” and weighs 160 pounds.  He has multiple tattoos which include an Arkansas map on his left arm and the name Jakiylah Coleman Deserie on his neck.  Coleman has felony arrest warrants for Failing to Return to Jail, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Battery.  Below are pictures of Coleman.

Criminal Damage to a Building and Vehicle
November 25, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person responsible for criminal damage to property in the City of Wausau.

 

Sometime overnight between Friday, 11-20-15 and Saturday, 11-21-15, a window next to the front door at Handcrafted Furniture Company was shot out. During the same time frame, a pick-up truck on Chicago Ave was hit in the rear driver’s side door; the sheet metal was punctured but not penetrated. In both cases, it is believed a pistol crossbow was used to cause the damage. A crossbow bolt was found near both incidents. (See attached picture)

Damage to Building
November 20, 2015

Between the evening of Friday, November 13th and the morning of Saturday, November 14th, 2015, Olson Floor Coverings building was damaged.  Due to the height of the damage, it’s believed a large truck; possibly a semi-truck and trailer hit the building tearing off a large portion of the overhang of the building.

Theft From a Garage
November 13, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to solve a burglary that occurred in the Township of Reid.

 

Sometime between Saturday, 10/24/15 and Tuesday, 10/25/15, several items were taken from a locked garage on North Shore Drive.  The items stolen were a Cabela’s Deluxe Food Slicer 8.7, a plumbing power snake, and a red power washer steamer.  The total loss is estimated at about $2900.

Strong Armed Robbery of Elderly Person
November 08, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to identify the person robbed an elderly woman of her purse.

 

On September 21st, 2015 at about 1:00 PM, an elderly person went to a grocery store on the west side of Wausau.  After she finished her business, she drove to her residence in the Town of Berlin.  When the woman was near the intersection of Naugart Drive and Adams Lane she noticed a cranberry colored sedan behind her.  The woman drove into her garage before she got out the vehicle a Hispanic woman told the victim her lights didn’t work.  After the victim thanked her for this information and began to get out of her vehicle, the suspect reached for the victim’s purse.  After a struggle, the suspect took the victims purse and left the area in the cranberry colored car; going south on Adams Lane.

Theft of Boat Motor

On either October 14th or October 15th, 2015, unknown people removed a 60 hp Mercury outboard motor from a boat while it was parked on private property in the 5700 block of North 57th Street in the Town of Wausau.  Also stolen at the same time were an Interstate marine battery and an oil injection tank.

Used Cooking Oil Thefts
October 14, 2015

There have been several restaurant used cooking oil thefts in Central Wisconsin and Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to catch the thieves.

 

During the last few months there have been reports in Rothschild, Weston and Wausau of two non-Caucasian males stealing used cooking oil from outside restaurants. When a contracted company went to the restaurants to retrieve the used cooking oil they found the oil was missing from the containers. Several thousand gallons of cooking oil have been stolen. This kind of theft is also occurring in the Fox Valley area and Minneapolis. The used cooking oil is worth money for the bio-fuels industry. 

 

The vehicles involved in the thefts have grease pumping equipment inside them. Some of the vehicles identified as being involved in the thefts in MN are a box truck labeled “Quality Tool”, an Isuzu box truck labeled “St. Paul Pioneer Press”; as well as a 2011 Isuzu Tilt cab box truck from Yellow Ryder Truck Rental.

Burglary to Weston Business
October 11, 2015

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find who broke into a business in the Village of Weston.

 

At 11:19 PM on September 30th, 2015, someone broke a window and entered the south side of the restaurant on the corner of Camp Phillips Road and Northwestern Avenue.  Once the person was inside the building, they stole a small quantity of money.  It is believed the suspect fled the area going south on Camp Phillips Road.  The damage to the building will cost the business over $1,000.00 to repair.
