September is the month of harvest for outdoor marijuana growers and your help is needed. An outdoor marijuana grow can be any number of plants and the plants can vary in height from 3-8 feet.
Things to look for would be vehicles parked in remote or unusual areas, increased traffic in a particular area, containers of miracle grow, water containers, top soil bags or containers and increased activities in wooded or secluded areas.
Marijuana plants normally have 5-9 serrated edged leaves that appear to be a darker green color. The plant gives off a strong smell of marijuana that is distinct from all other plants.
If you notice any of the behaviors or plants listed above, try to get a license plate number of the vehicle and a description of the suspects and contact Marathon County Crime Stoppers. Do not try to approach or confront anyone as people involved with drugs can be dangerous. Leave investigations to the police. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward up to 1,000.
