Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to determine who has been breaking into various bars and both stealing property and damaging equipment.
At about 2:30 AM on June 25, 2018 an unknown person entered a bar after it was closed and locked in the 1700 block of Old Highway 51 in Kronenwetter. The suspect wore a black hat, black jacket or sweatshirt, black gloves with a light colored tab on top of the wrist, blue jeans and what appeared to be hiking shoes. The suspect stole cigarettes and money and damaged machines inside the bar before leaving.
In the early morning hours of July 2, 2018, someone attempted to break into a bar in the 4700 block of Stewart Avenue in the Town of Stettin but didn’t get into the bar. There are no suspects in this matter.
In the late evening hours of July 9, 2018 to the early morning hours of July 10, 2018, someone illegally entered a bar in the 14000 block of County Road F in the Town of Berlin and damaged a large amount of property and stole money also. There is no suspect description of this burglary.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the thief who entered several vehicles and a residence in the Village of Marathon City.
Between June 9th and June 20th, 2018 between the hours of 12am and 5am, several vehicles were entered and items were stolen from them. Some of the items that have been taken include money, tools, and electronics. In one report a home was entered while the resident was in their living room. The suspect entered the open back door and removed items from the kitchen table before walking out. A male suspect has been seen in the area of the break-ins but no further descriptions are known at this time.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to determine who physically assaulted a special needs individual at the Metro Ride Transit Center in the City of Wausau.
On June 26, 2018, the victim and a white male with dark hair parted to the right
and a full beard and mustache got off a Jefferson Lines bus at about 2:45 PM. The suspect asked the victim if he/she was retarded and then began punching the victim in around his/her ear. It’s believed the suspect was about 5’10” tall wearing about 150 pounds and was wearing a black bodied jacket with red sleeves. There have been 15 vehicles which were either damaged or had items stolen from inside them between Saturday, June 16 and Wednesday June 20, 2018. The vehicles have been targeted on Lincoln Avenue, Adams Street, Fulton Street, Stark Street, Prospect Avenue, Porter Street, W. Wausau Avenue, N. 6th Avenue and N. 4th Avenue. The rear windows were smashed out of vehicles possibly with an object like a baseball bat and also rocks. All of these incidents occurred during the night time hours. Items taken from the vehicles include loose change, cash, computer, Fitbit, and drinks.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to determine who stole a utility terrain vehicle in the Town of Mosinee.
Between June 7th and June 8th, 2018, someone stole a black and white 2015 Artic Cat Wildcat Sport Limited UTV from yard in the 600 block of County Road B in the Town of Mosinee. The UTV had been chained and locked to a power pole. The UTV had a winch added to it along with other accessories. The registration number was attached to the back of the UTV. Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to learn who damaged a vehicle in the Village of Weston.
Between June 2nd, 2018 and June 5th, 2018, someone vandalized a Ford Ranger pick-up which was parked by an automotive repair business in the 6200 block of Schofield Avenue in Weston. The vehicle’s grill was torn out and thrown underneath the vehicle, all four tires were slashed, and a door handle was broken. The vehicle owner sustained about an $800.00 loss due to this damage.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person(s) who stole a snowmobile trailer in the Township of Norrie.
Sometime between 04/20/18 and 5/01/18 a 2005 Rance Roughrider snowmobile trailer was stolen. It is further described as being an 8’ X 10’ aluminum open top flatbed trailer with a black plastic snow guard in front. The snowmobile trailer was stolen from the driveway of a residence located on Norrie Rd in the Township of Norrie. There was a padlock securing the trailer which was cut off.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to learn who damaged a wooden recreational bridge in the City of Mosinee.
Between 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 and 6:00 PM on Monday, May 7, 2018, someone broke about 50 spindle supports on a wooden bridge on the Purple Circle Trail. This trail is accessed off 3rd Street by High Street in Mosinee. This wasn’t the first time these spindles were broken; similar damage was done in the fall of 2017.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to learn who stole tools from two different construction sites in the City of Wausau.
On the weekend of April 28, 2018, thieves broke into a house in the 1100 block of N. 9th Ave. in Wausau and stole a Graco High Boy paint sprayer, a 24 oz. Stiletto hammer, a 40 piece Makita drill bet set, and a 22 oz. Stanley waffle hammer.
The next weekend, someone broke into a home in the 1200 block of Prospect Ave. and stole a 12” Bosch chop saw with a stand, another Bosch saw, a Bosch nail gun, a 19” Craftsman table saw, a drywall lift, a Milwaukee Skill saw, a Campbell Hausfeld nail gun, a bathroom sink and counter, and a paint ladder.
Due to the size of some of some of the items, it is believed more than one person was involved in these thefts.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to determine who sprayed graffiti on both traffic signs and private property in the Town of Rib Mountain.
On April 30, 2018, sometime between 5:00 AM and 7:45 PM, someone spray painted graffiti on about 10 traffic signs and a private fence in the 3000 block of Robin Lane. There was also graffiti sprayed on the roadway. The Town of Rib Mountain had to replace the traffic signs. The letters “GDK SOO WOO” and “59 King”, and along with “Die” was some of the graffiti painted.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who stole a trailer from the Township of Emmet.
Sometime between Friday, 04/06/18 and Monday, 04/09/18 a 6 X 8 single axel homemade trailer was removed from 891 County Road S without the owner’s permission. It was posted for sale and another trailer in extremely poor condition and of a very low value was left in its place. The trailer frame was made of square steel tubing, white and rusted, but the tongue of the trailer was painted green. The trailer has a single axel rated for 3500 pounds and electric brakes. There are no fenders covering the tires and the wheels were painted white. The trailer was locked when it was stolen. The stolen trailer is pictured below.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to identify who stole a camera while a student was at a coffee shop in the City of Wausau.
On March 27, 2018, a student was at a coffee shop on S. 17th Avenue in Wausau between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The student accidently left her black Ruggard camera bag behind. Inside the camera bag was a Nikon D610 camera with a flowered strap along with a 50mm lens. This victim sustained over a $1,500.00 loss.

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who is using stolen credit card numbers to buy semi-truck tires from both the Village of Weston and the Village of Rothschild.
On two different occasions in November, 2016, someone used a fraudulent credit card number to obtain 8 semi-tractor tires from a tire dealership on Stone Ridge Drive in Weston. Two thin build black males who were driving a white van with Illinois license plates came and picked up the tires at the dealership.
On March 17, 2018, a different tire dealership on County Road XX in the Village of Rothschild took two different phone calls where a total of 16 semi-tractor tires were ordered and paid for with a fraudulent credit card numbers. An average build, black male driving a white van with Illinois license plates came to business and picked up the tires.
The total loss for all of these thefts was about $12,700.00.

Sometime between 02/17/18 and 3/16/18 the following collectible items were stolen from an apartment storage unit located on Alexander Ave in Rothschild:
300 PVC Smurfs, 50 Super Smurfs, 12 Smurf Playsets and buildings, 21 various Strawberry Shortcake dolls, 5 Strawberry Shortcake playsets, a Smurf Farmhouse with a red roof, 23 Care Bear poseable dolls, 2 Care Bear playsets, 8 PVC Care Bears, 10 McDonald McNugget characters, 18 Glow Worms with a rabbit, mouse, and duck character that went along with them, 3 Ducktail Characters, a Strawberry Shortcake horse carriage and a Wizard of Oz lunchbox. The total value of all items stolen is just over $3000.

On Sunday, March 04, 2018 at approximately 4:17am two suspects spent about 23 minutes attempting to break into Brokaw Corners Tavern located on CTH W. They did not gain entry but did destroy a metal service door, door knob and deadbolt in the process. The two suspects were captured on the surveillance system. Both suspects were wearing clothing to cover their face. One suspect was much taller than the other.

The Marathon County Crime Stoppers is attempting to identify the man who was involved in illegally entering a garage in the 2800 block of Teal Avenue in the Town of Rib Mountain.
On January 28, 2018, a male entered a garage of a house at about 7:35 AM while the homeowner was home. The victim saw the male leaving with items in his arms, going to a white SUV with a license plate similar to 117WSS. This vehicle was driven by a white female with long brown curly or wavy hair. The victim further believed three other people may have been in the back seat. A Nintendo 64 game counsel, controllers and games; along with a Ryobi trimmer, and a Vizio 36” television were stolen from the garage.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has taken numerous recent complaints from fraud victims who were asked to make payments using iTunes gift cards in exchange for goods or services. iTunes gift cards are preferred by scammers because all they need is for the victim to supply the 16-digit code after purchasing cards from a local retailer. This transaction allows the scammer to use a fictitious identity with no need to provide a mailing address, banking information, or legitimate form of identification. Please keep in mind that legitimate businesses generally do not take iTunes gift cards as payment. Be especially wary when conducting business over the phone, online, through email, or social media.
