Thefts and Arsons
February 05, 2020

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is looking for your help in identifying an accomplice of an already identified male party who was involved in a rash of thefts and arsons in the southwestern part of Marathon County beginning in October of 2019.

 

The thefts in October included a Polaris 400cc ATV which has been recovered and returned to the owner.

 

In the second week of November a white 2008 Ford F-350 regular cab with a 6.4 diesel motor was stolen from a business near Marshfield.  This vehicle has not yet been recovered.

 

Later in November a 1997 Chevy Lumina was stolen from a residence in the Town of McMillan.  The individuals responsible for the theft set the car on fire.

 

During the middle of December a residence in the Town of Eau Pleine was burglarized and a truck taken among other items.  The truck was recovered along with most of the other stolen items.

 

At the end of December 2019, a Skid Steer was stolen from a business near Stratford.  The machine was driven into a deep ditch and the person or people responsible set it on fire when it became stuck.

 

We are also hoping to identify the owner of a red Massey Ferguson MF 1230H compact tractor with hydraulic bucket, which we believe was stolen and is being held in safe keeping by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.

Criminal Damage to a Vehicle
January 08, 2020

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who vandalized a vehicle in the Township of Rib Mountain.

 

On Sunday, December 15, 2019 about 4:22am a person wearing all black clothing with a large backpack entered the east lot of Slumberland Furniture located at 226303 Rib Mountain Drive. The subject was seen walking toward the side of the truck where the spray paint was observed and disappeared for a short time. It appeared the suspect may have been interrupted when a vehicle entered the lot and drove toward the truck. The suspect can then be seen walking away from the business southbound on Wood Duck Lane.  The damage to the truck was about $1000.

Theft by Fraud
December 31, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify three suspects using cloned credit cards to steal money in Wausau, Weston and Abbotsford.

 

During November 2-5, 2019, there were two males and a female who used cloned credit cards to steal a total of $14,000 from ATM machines at three Abby Bank locations (Wausau, Weston and Abbotsford).  Video surveillance revealed the three suspects along with a white Chevy Impala. A white male suspect wearing a maroon “OBEY MFG” hoodie was operating the Impala. The white female suspect, shorter is stature, had blonde hair sticking out of the hood of her black Columbia jacket. The other male had a darker skin complexion and was wearing a green camouflaged winter jacket.

Theft of Wallet/Identity Theft
November 27, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male and female involved with a theft in the Town of Rib Mountain.

 

Sometime between 10pm 11/09/19 and 1am 11/10/19 a wallet was misplaced in the lounge of a hotel in Rib Mountain. Between 1:00am and 2:10am, there were several large purchases made at Wal-Mart in excess of $1300 using the stolen credit cards from the lost wallet. There appeared to be two males and one female involved. One of the males has been identified. The male and female in the surveillance pictures still need to be identified.

Theft From Vehicle and ID Theft

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male involved with a theft in the Village of Rothschild.

 

On the morning of Saturday, November 2, 2019 it was reported that a vehicle parked overnight in the 2400 block of Weston Ave was broken into and a large black purse was stolen. Inside the purse was an apple watch, a light blue wallet and cash.

 

On November 2, 2019 at 12:21am a male suspect purchased items at Kwik Trip on Schofield Ave in the Village of Weston using the debit card located in the stolen purse. The suspect is a white male with a tattoo on the right side of his neck.  He was wearing a blue and gray plaid shirt, jeans, and a Milwaukee Brewers baseball cap.

Attempted Forgery
October 30, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a female who attempted to pass a counterfeit check in the City of Wausau.

 

On Friday, August 30, 2019 a female tried to pass a counterfeit payroll check in the name of K4 Construction at a Credit Union drive-thru in Wausau. The teller noticed the check looked different than normal and asked the people in the car security questions for the member’s account, which they could not answer and proceeded to drive off. The female driving was described as having blonde hair, in her thirties, wearing a pink bandana, a baseball cap and sunglasses. The male in the passenger seat had a ball cap on and looked bald.

Theft From Home Construction Site
October 02, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person(s) who stole several items from a new home construction site in the Village of Maine

 

On Tuesday, September 17, 2019 three fire service doors were discovered missing from a home construction site on N 53rd Ave.

 

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019 several light and plumbing fixtures were missing. It is believed the suspect(s) were there two nights in a row. Hand tools for cutting metal belonging to a contractor were also taken.  Some additional items taken were 4 Broan exhaust fans, 3 Delta kitchen faucets, 4 bathroom faucets, 2 chandeliers, kitchen sinks, 16 door handles, pendant lights, ceiling fans with light kits, and many more items.  The total loss is estimated at over $12,000.

Theft from Pontoon/Boathouse in Rib Mountain
September 06, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person who stole several items from a vehicle and pontoon boat in the Town of Rib Mountain.

 

Sometime after midnight on Saturday, 08/10/19 someone entered a vehicle parked in a driveway, boarded several pontoons while docked and entered a boathouse along the 5300 block of Lakeshore Drive. The thief took a Garman Striker GPS unit, a 12 volt battery jumper pack, a hand cordless vacuum cleaner, a Kodak Digital Camera, prescription sunglasses, a spotlight and alcohol. The loss is estimated at $1643.

Theft of Purse

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify a male who stole a purse in the Township of Rib Mountain.

 

On Monday, July 1, 2019 between 4:30pm and 5:15pm a purse was accidentally left in a shopping cart in the cart corral in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A male suspect was seen on surveillance video taking the purse out of the cart and walking back to his vehicle with the purse in his hand. He got into his vehicle and left the parking lot. The male was shopping with a female and three children. He left in a dark colored Dodge Caravan with black wheels.

Theft from Target in Weston, WI
July 24, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify the person who stole thousands of dollars in merchandise from Target in the Village of Weston.

 

On Saturday, May 26th, about 6:28pm a tall thin black male with a beard arrived at Target in Weston. He was driving a dark colored, 4 door, Pontiac G6 with the left grill missing from the front of the vehicle, damage to the left lower bumper cover and all black wheels. The male entered Target and left without paying for items totaling about $4300.  The items stolen include: (2) Google Nest Outdoor Cameras, a Google Nest Indoor Camera, (13) Fit Bit Watches, a Mophie Juice Power Pack, an Ecobee Thermostat, (3) Google Nest Thermostats, a Ring Doorbell and a C9 Active Wear Shirt.

Damage to Town of Easton Fire Dept
July 10, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify who caused damage to the Town of Easton’s Fire Department building.

 

During the night of April 26, 2019 or the early morning of April 27, 2019, someone did a donut with their vehicle in the parking lot of the Easton Fire Department at the intersection of County Road Q and County Road Z in the Town of Easton.  Gravel was kicked up from this vehicle and caused damage to the overhead doors, front door, and to multiple windows which had been recently replaced and would need replacement again.  The preliminary cost estimate to replace the windows was $2,000.00.

Theft from Secor Motors, Wausau
June 26, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who stole items from Secor Motors in the City of Wausau.

 

Sometime between Sunday, June 16th and Monday June 17th, 2019 someone cut the fencing of the east gate to the business property and stole approximately 20-25 diesel radiators, catalytic converters, exhaust and running boards. The thief used the wooded area near the business to haul away the stolen items.  The loss is estimated at approximately $1500.

Theft From Slumberland
June 12, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the people who stole items from Slumberland in the Town of Rib Mountain.

 

Sometime between 8pm Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and 9am Wednesday, May 22, 2019 someone cut parts of the loading bay dock bumper and gained entry into a Slumberland truck that was backed up against the loading bay. It appears the thieves also tried to pull the truck away from the loading bay by attaching a strap to the front bumper of the Slumberland truck but were unsuccessful.  The items stolen from the back of the truck include a queen size headboard, footboard, bed rails, bedstead, mattress, bed protector, and a drop leaf table totaling about $2000. The damage to the business was estimated at approximately $1000.

Smash and Grab of Cell Phones
May 16, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to identify two people who broke into a business in the Village of Weston.

 

On Thursday, May 9, 2019 at about 4:42am, two males broke a window and entered the Cellcom store located at 2106 Schofield Ave. Once inside, the thieves forced their way into the supply room and filled two duffle bags with $20,000 to $50,000 worth of iPhone 10’s and Samsung Galaxy S10’s. The burglars were in and out of the business in less than two minutes and were seen leaving in a vehicle from a neighboring business going north toward Cutoff Road.

 

One suspect is described as a black male, weighing approximately 300-350 pounds and about 5’10’to 6’0” tall.  The second suspect is described as a white male, weighing about 230-250 pounds and about 5’8” to 5’10”inches tall. Both males had hooded sweatshirts on and were wearing something over their face to obscure their identity.

Criminal Damage to Property in Rothschild
April 17, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who damaged property in the Village of Rothschild.

 

Sometime between the evening of Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1, 2019 someone damaged a Village of Rothschild Water Department pump house located at 1128 Park Street. There were multiple windows and other exterior parts of the building that were damaged.  An exterior light above the door had the glass covering broken off and shattered on the ground and the light bulb was also removed and on the ground. The glass in the entry door was broken. There were block windows on the east and north sides on the building that were also broken and the screen was ripped and torn.  The damage was consisted with being struck with a BB or pellet. The damage was $5600.

Theft of Property from Hotel Rooms

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to identify the people who rented two hotel rooms in the Town of Rib Mountain and then stole property out of both of the rooms.

 

On March 5, 2019, a person reserved two hotel rooms in the Town of Rib Mountain through an out-of-state travel agency.  Two groups of people came into the hotel to rent the rooms; two white males and two white females. Accompanying them were four children, two white females and two black males.  This group of people were driving a black Ford pickup truck with a tailgate shaped to be used with a fifth wheel hitch and a light colored mini-van.  Images of the adults and vehicles are available at the Marathon County Crime Stoppers website under the Crime of the Week tab.

Help Identify Retail Theft Suspect
April 03, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who ripped off a business in the Town of Rib Mountain.

 

On Thursday, March 14, 2019 about 5:30am a white male entered Wal-Mart and loaded up a cart with a Stanley Tool Set, a Cambell Housefeld 62 piece Air Tool Set and Air Sprayer, an HP All In One Computer, an HP Printer, and a few other items totaling over $1300. 

 

About 6:00am the male pushed the full cart out an alarmed auto care center door without paying for the merchandise. The male ran to his vehicle, loaded up the stolen goods and left in a vehicle described as a 1990’s model gray Toyota Tacoma with black rims.

Criminal Damage to Property
March 20, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who damaged property in the Town of Maine.

 

On Monday, December 31, 2018 about 1:40am, a dark blue early 2000’s model GMC Yukon XL or Chevy Suburban drove through the front gate to the NTC farm located at 6625 County Rd K. This vehicle broke the cabled gate when they drove through it. The vehicle also drove through the farm and through and open gate to a pasture on the north end of the farm. The vehicle then drove across the pasture and damaged a four-strand wire fence with fiberglass posts.

 

The vehicle is captured on surveillance footage at the farm.

Burglary to Wausau Business

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is asking for your help to find the person who burglarized a business in the City of Wausau.

 

On Sunday, February 17, 2019 between 2:30am and 8:30am, Jim’s Corner Pub located at 1244 South 9th Avenue was broken into. Several gambling machines were damaged and money was stolen from some of them. The business was equipped with a video surveillance system but the thief disconnected the digital video recorder box and took it with them. The total loss is estimated at about $3150.

Thefts from Vehicles and Theft of Utility Trailer
February 17, 2019

Marathon County Crime Stoppers is trying to identify the person(s) involved in breaking into vehicles and also stealing a utility trailer in the Village of Rothschild.

 

There have been a series of thefts of property from vehicles within Rothschild.  During the evening hours of January 10th into the early morning hours of January 11, 2019, someone stole a 2016 Karavan aluminum open utility trailer which had aluminum sides and a ramp on it.  The ramp was modified to be a short length.  The left side trailer lights and the yellow side marker light on the left fender didn’t work.  The trailer had been parked in the 1100 block of East Grand Avenue.

 

On January 18, 2019, an individual came home and parked his vehicle next to his house in the 400 block of Palm Street.  The owner of the vehicle came out of his residence and discovered a male wearing a multi-colored shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes was in the victim’s car.  The victim chased the suspect and caught up to him, but after a brief struggle, the suspect got away.  The victim report he had cigarettes and money stolen from his vehicle.  This incident was reported to the police around 9:00 PM.

 

In another incident at about 10:55 PM on January 18, 2019 in the 200 block of Greenwood Drive in Rothschild, the victim parked her car in her garage and left the garage door open for about 30 minutes, waiting for other residents of the house to come home.  The victim heard a noise in the garage and when she opened a door leading into the garage, she discovered someone entered her car.  The victim had a black puffy winter vest with a fur neck lining stolen along with her bright red wallet purse.
